The Kalle Shirt and Shirtdress sewing pattern by Closet Case Files is a cropped shirt (View A), a tunic length shirt (View B), or a shirtdress (View C), each with cuffed drop sleeves and curved hemlines. Sew your own Kalle shirt or dress and customize it with a breast pocket, a button, an inverted box pleat, and varying collars and plackets. Construct your own tunic length shirt from a flannel for a comfortable and warm yet chic fall or winter top, or use a Tencel fabric to sew the Kalle Shirtdress for dressier look.

Additional Notes

This paper pattern includes all pattern pieces and instructions with illustrations.

The instructions were not always super easy to follow, but there are blog posts for all the steps with pictures, which helped.

I really enjoyed the pattern and I am looking forward to making the tunic and dress versions.

I love this pattern and I'm definitely making more in the future!

The pattern is beautifully drafted and comes together very well. My choice of fabric (zippo ease or give) made some assembly slightly more challenging, but I knew that would happen. I think the pattern is better for shirting weight fabrics with some more heft -- linen weight and upward would be ideal. If you choose to make this, do read her excellent size selection suggestions (or look on the SewAlong on the Closet Case Files blog). I could have made a smaller size (on top) but I didn't want any pulling at the bottom. Her finished garment measurements are spot on!

For those who have struggled with plackets on other patterns, one of the best features of this pattern is that (for example) the popover placket is the same for all sizes. It's easy to cut, mark and interface. Definitely the easiest placket I've put in. Also, she uses my favorite collar attachment method - you always get perfect collar stay finishes.

The pattern instructions are clear and easy to follow.

Love it and can't wait to make more!
