Layered Full Maxi Dress
I absolutely adore this pattern! By far my favorite dress. I've already made 3! I immediately could see I would need at tweak the pattern. I am a Fashion Designer by degree but with personal projects it's definitely easier on those lazy days to use patterns like these and tweak for my personal closet.
I am not crazy about the straight cut maxi dresses. I like to have a bit of fullness. I used the slash and spread method (easier to just goggle this method if you do not know what it is). I added 8" fullness to both front and back skirts and 2.5" in fullness to both layered pieces. Adding fullness did wonders for this look.
Subtract 1/2" on the front and back bodice pattern side seam. It is not the underarm that will droop on you, but rather the back will bunch up and not sit correctly spread. Definitely, definitely take off 1/2" from front and back bodice side seams ladies. You don't want to make the waist smaller on the bodice so make sure you angle your ruler to take off 1/2" by the underarm angling it to where you are taking nothing from the waist.
Overall I adore this look so much! Basic adjustments and styling and voila! ♡
