Dropped waist Birkin Flares
I really love this pattern. This is my second pair of Birkins.
I actually bought this fabric from Indie Sew last year. It was a unique fabric that is only about 30" across so I had to piece the waist band together, but you couldn't even tell with the back belt loop covering it.
I love adding in fun pocket material! I also made a double button on the waist band, because my sister said it flatters a less curvy waist. I'm pretty straight through the waist and hips so I gave it a try and really liked the outcome! I am also rather short waisted and wanted to be able to occasionally tuck a shirt in so I shortened the pattern about 1 1/2' so the waist band would sit lower. I also took the flares in a tiny bit on the outer sideband lengthened the pattern to be able to make a wide hem.
The top is a montlake tee by Straight stitch designs and is one of my favorite t shirts.
