Birkin flares of my dreams!
Recently I had an unexplainable overwhelming desire to make a pair of flared jeans, in walks the Birkin flares pattern! It looked like the perfect pattern on paper, and all of the versions I saw on here looked great on every figure!
I cut a size 26 and lengthened them by 1.5". I made a twice turned and topstitched hem of 5/8". They fit pretty perfectly with no major fit adjustments. I am very happy! I made a toile pair which turned out way too small so I'd suggest definetly trusting the pattern measurements and size choosing suggestions in the instructions! Don't try and be clever like I did and compare the pieces to other jeans pattern pieces you might have!
I wanted the pockets to have some fun topstitching so I freehand drew a design on one pocket with chalk and then sandwiched the 2 pockets right sides together and pressed to transfer the design to the second pocket. The topstitching then matched on both pockets!
They fit perfectly and I'm so happy with how they turned out! I'm already planning a black twill pair and a brown denim pair. I think I'm going to try and make a button fly one for my next pair using my Morgan jeans button fly front pieces.
