All of the love for the Toaster sweaters!
I love my 2 versions of Toaster sweater number 2 and was looking forward to trying the variation 1 out. I was mainly excited about the huge bottom band, deep cuffs, and lovely deep neck band (aka me being super excited about all the warm elements to this pattern! Nice work Sew House 7!)
I sewed it up in a fleece backed marl knit I picked up in North Wales. I sewed the same size as my Toaster sweater # 2 but graded my hem out by 1" on each side seam (giving me 4 extra inches at the hip). I also lengthened by 3" on the bodice and sleeves. The sleeves are a perfect length now but the bodice could do with an extra few inches length. In future for a really cosy oversized look I'll lengthen bodice 6" and sleeves 3", and also grade out to the widen hem by 6" total (to account for the hem now falling lower on my full hip). I'm 5ft 11 so usually have to lengthen most sewing pattern, one of the pure joys of sewing and making all my own clothes is being able to make them fit perfectly.
The proportions of the bodice are perfect for my torso too and I have quite wide shoulders (normally having to make the shoulder to shoulder width wider on most bodice pieces). No mods needed for that section of this jumper though, it's like the pattern was made for me :)
