Alberta Street Pencil Skirt in Dark Wash Navy Denim
This was the first Alberta Street Pencil Skirt I made. My body measurements set me at a size 6, but I didn't want the skirt to be skin tight. So I tried making a size 10, which turned out to be a little too big. I decided to leave it as is, though. I plan on wearing it as an everyday skirt, so I don't mind that it is a little loose -- it's pretty comfy that way. I left also off the pockets. One other alteration I made: instead of sewing the regular waistband, I cut the lycra belly band off of one of my worn-old maternity pants and attached that at the top of the skirt instead. All I did was fold the lycra in half, and sandwich the raw edge of the skirt between the two pieces of my new lycra waistband. It is comfortable and simple, and it won't show at all as I don't intend to ever tuck my top into the skirt.
