By Trine

Trine is a Danish mother of four. She sews a lot. Really. A lot. Some might even call her an addict. You can follow her sewing escapades at Groovy Baby and Mama.

Okay. Let's get this party started!

Today is day one of the 'Selfish Sewing Week' spring '15 edition - and I get to kick it off!

I was thrilled when Allie invited me on this tour. It's the third time I get to be one of the contributors on the SSW tour - and it's a blast every time. You should check out some of the creations that have been made in the past. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Just sayin'. Selfish sewing is the best if you ask me!

This time Indiesew is co-hosting the tour and has provided all of their invited guests with a pattern of their own choice from the Indiesew shop.

In fact I've been working with two patterns for this post.

First up we have the Emery Dress pattern designed by Christine Haynes. If you happen to be a regular reader of my blog you will now that I have a crush on the Emery. This is my fourth (or is it fitfh?!) version of the Emery.

This time I turned the beauty into a skirt. Yup. I went a little rogue and cut off the bodice! Bad Trine. But, being a sewing badass paid off - and I now have the most comfortable and sweet knee length skirt. Did she say comfortable. Oh, yes she did, because she attached an elastic waistband to the skirt.

I only used the front part of the dress' skirt pattern and simply just cut two of those one the fold. Attached the pocket parts, sewed the front and back together and added a waistband.

The fabric used is this gorgeous pale yellow and gray 'Cherie' cotton designed by Frances Newcombe for Art Gallery Fabrics.

Selfish creation no 2 is a Union St. Tee designed by Hey June. Another favorite of mine. Apparently it's also one of my daughter's favorites! This is my third version. Guess how many of these my daughter has 'adopted'! The fabric is a thin jersey from my stash.

And here's some more badass info for you. I left the entire tee unhemmed. Raw edges all the way. Boom.

Hope you like what I've done with these two perfect patterns.

Thank you so much for inviting me.
