The Kalle Shirt and Shirtdress sewing pattern has long been a favorite in the sewing community. This button-up design with cuffed kimono-style sleeve is on-trend and easy to wear.

When we were choosing designs for our Fool's Paradise fabrics, I knew that Kalle (view A) would look incredible in the structured Light Cotton Poplin. This fabric is light, yet crisp, and can be transformed in the most stunning structured garments.

If you're just tuning in, check out the collaboration we launched last week with Dan Lehman and Spoonflower. | Kalle Shirt by Closet Case Files

For sizing reference, our model's bust/waist/hip measurements are roughly 33"/26"/36" and she's 5'10" tall. We sewed the straight size 4 and added two inches at the lengthen/shorten lines to account for her height.

We used interfacing where indicated, but in retrospect, I don't think it's necessary when using Spoonflower's cotton poplin. This structured substrate doesn't need much reinforcement on the collar and button placket.

I especially love the curved hem of the Kalle with the wide hem facing in cotton poplin. It stands away from the body and becomes sort of sculptural, which is a nice departure from the flowy silhouettes we are sometimes drawn to.

The off-white background of the light color way looks great on a range of skin tones and when paired with denim. It's also available in a poly crepe version!

Happy sewing!
