The blog has been quiet for a few weeks now because we've been busily preparing behind the scenes for this very day. The 2017 Spring/Summer Collection has been in the works for months. And now it's ready for you!

This collection includes three new sewing patterns and two of our favorite tried and tested designs. It features five fabrics (that are available at fabric stores across the country, more on that below!) that are overstock yardage from fashion designers.

We shot these garments against a dramatic backdrop on the island of Maui by an amazing photographer (New Wave Hawaii). And it feels so, so good to finally reveal what we've been up to.

Take a look at the 2017 Spring/Summer Collection:

The Pattern Players

Highlands Wrap Dress

I've had dreams of designing this exact wrap dress for a while so I figured the 2017 Spring/Summer Collection was just the motivation I needed to get my second sewing pattern out. The Highlands Wrap Dress is a woven wrap dress with two lengths (midi and maxi), side slits, and a mitered hem.

We sewed this maxi-length version in our Agave Green Tencel Shirting (a tencel Fabric Files post is coming soon!). The sleeved version you see in the cover photo of this post was sewn in our Blue Striped Linen Lurex.

Hampton Jean Jacket

We were over the moon excited when we found out that Alina Design Co. was working on a classic jean jacket sewing pattern. The Hampton Jean Jacket has all the bells and whistles including welt pockets and a two-piece sleeve.

Our Hampton Jean Jacket is sewn in our 10 Oz. Dark Indigo Washed Denim, which is the perfect weight for this design. Alina's instructions are incredibly comprehensive for this more advanced design.

Minttu Top

We're a big fan of swing tank tops, especially when Named Clothing puts their Scandinavian twist on them. The Minttu Top is an A-line tank top with an all-in-one facing that creates a clean finish around the neckline and armholes.

Our Minttu is sewn in our Tuscan Red Modal Rib Knit (it's back!) for the perfect drapey top. Be sure to use a super stretchy interfacing on this design, we recommend this one from Fashion Sewing Supply.

 Charleston Dress

A fitted, ponte dress has always been a wardrobe staple for me for its pure comfort and wearability. The Charleston Dress by Hey June is the perfect dress for this type of fabric and flatters so many different body types.

We sewed our Charleston (with elbow-length sleeves) in our Natural Stripe Rayon Ponte. Check out our tips on sewing with ponte fabric. This pattern includes the option for an A-line skirt and seven different sleeve variations!

Ogden Cami

We've got Ogden Cami fever just like the rest of the sewing world. This pattern by True Bias is a partially-lined camisole tank top with a subtle front and back V-neckline.

We used the Agave Green Tencel Shirting for our version and the result is a super versatile top that can be worn alone or layered. We can think of a million fun hacks for this great design!
