Denim, colorful stripes, wooden clogs, and a floppy wool hat tell it all. The 2016 Spring Collection is undeniably retro and it's ready to breathe new life into your handmade wardrobe. Five stellar indie sewing patterns and five new fabrics are ready for you. The 2016 Spring Collection is here!

This season we decided to craft this collection around 70's throwback apparel. Flared jeans, denim jumpsuits, and easy-fitting garments are on-trend and in stores. So why not sew your own version of these old-school favorites?

Let's see who's on the roster this time around:

The Pattern Players

The Rushcutter

This spring is all about easy-fitting silhouettes. The Rushcutter sewing pattern by Aussie designer In the Folds is exactly that. This knee length, A-line dress has two views for a dress that's suitable for year-round wear.

Our Rushcutter is sewn in our Bluebell Striped Double Cloth. We used the reverse side of the fabric to create contrast in the unique paneling of this dress.

The Sanibel Romper & Dress

If you're still on the fence about wearing a romper, let the Sanibel by Hey June convince you otherwise. This dress or romper has a full button placket, drawstring waist, and long or cap sleeves.

This version of the Sanibel is sewn in our Organic Hemp Cotton Lightweight Denim. To see the dress version of this sewing pattern check out the Sanibel product page!

The lou Box Top

We love boxy tops for their comfort, their versatility, and their ease of sewing. The Lou Box Top by Sew DIY checks all of those boxes and more. This beginner-friendly pattern has a bias-bound neckline, three hem options, two neckline options and the option to add a pocket.

We couldn't resist sewing our Lou Box Top in a vintage inspired fabric. This Multi Striped Chambray Shirting is a modern twist on a 70's design and we love it.

The Birkin Flares

This retro-themed collection wouldn't be complete without a pair of true-blue flared jeans. The Birkin Flares by Baste + Gather are high-waisted with all the bells and whistles of a pair of designer jeans, including an incredible fit.

These jeans are sewn in our Indigo 13.5oz Stretch Denim (which is sadly sold out), but we will have more denim in the shop in the next two weeks. Plus, jeans kits will be available too!

The top worn with these Birkin Flares is a knit Lou Box Top (lengthened 3") sewn in our Cardinal Red Striped Jersey.

The Florence Kimono

This collection convinced us that flared jeans and denim rompers are meant to be worn with knee-length kimonos. The Florence Kimono by Sew Caroline has three length options and 3/4 length sleeves.

We sewed our Florence Kimono in our Retro Floral Rayon Challis and used some fun navy blue lace trim around the sleeves and bottom hem.

Bundle and Save!

By far the best part of this collection is the huge savings to be had! We've discounted the Full and Mini Spring Collections more than ever before!
