Introducing the Indiesew Summer Collection 2015 |
It took a crash course in photo makeup, a flight across the Pacific Ocean, and three separate photoshoots. But it’s finally here folks. The Indiesew 2015 Summer Collection has arrived! This collection is by far my favorite yet. And I can’t wait to show you why.
If you’re anything like me, your summer clothing might feel a little ho-hum. I've got too many blah tshirts and too few chic and trendy items. I wear my running shorts far more often than is appropriate. And I’ve been yearning for hot-weather outfits that look put together.
So we’re riding the woven track pants trend this time. We're throwing in a tried and true tank top pattern. We're inserting some sexy into your wardrobe with a backless dress. We're adding the most functional beach bag I’ve ever owned. And finally, we've topped it off with the newest swimming suit pattern on the market. That's the Indiesew Summer Collection. Now, let’s see exactly who’s playing this time around.

Pattern Players

The Bridgetown by Sew House Seven is a backless dress or tunic with an elastic waist, drop shoulders, and short sleeves. This pattern can be sewn in either knits or wovens and is a great pattern for the beginner sewist.

My Bridgetown dress is sewn in a lightweight knit with no hem band. It serves as a great swim suit coverup at the beach and transitions well to cocktail hour as a backless dress. Pair yours with your favorite wedge sandals and a large floppy hat for maximum drama.

Harem Pants

Brand new to the Indiesew shop, the Harem Pants by Pattern Emporium are woven track pants with endless options. Express yourself by personalizing the pockets or ankle finishes of this design. The pattern features full instructions on how to do so.

My Harem Pants are sewn in an opaque rayon challis. They’re comfortable and keep me cool on the hottest of days. Throw on a flowy tank top and some pointy toe pumps and these pants transition from lounging around to happy hour with the crew.

Ella Top

If you’re anything like me, when you find a good basic tank top pattern you make it over and over again. The Ella Top by Liola Patterns is that pattern. It's a casual tank top with a slight racerback design, bust darts, and a back yoke with pleat. The pattern features a bias bound neckline and armholes for a professional finish.

My Ella Top is sewn in a chiffon underlined in a soft lightweight cotton. I opted to leave off the back yoke trim because my fabric print was so busy. This tank top looks great with jeans, tucked into a pencil skirt, or worn with a pair of chic, silky harem pants.

Beverly Bikini

Let’s all give each other a virtual high five … there’s a new swim suit pattern on the market! The Beverly Twisted Bikini by Named Clothing features a lined bikini top and bottoms with twist details on both. This pattern, suited best for intermediate sewists, requires very little fabric.

With unique twist details, this bathing suit provides some visual interest while still being functional. Run, jump and swim in swimmers that won’t let you down. Be sure to sew your Beverly Bikini in a fabric with substantial stretch and great recovery.

Poolside Tote

Last, but not least, the Poolside Tote rounds off the Summer Collection as the carryall of the summer. This handbag is a basic, roomy beach or pool tote with exterior pockets and an inner key loop. It works great for toting pool gear or for a day at the farmers market.
The Poolside Tote by Noodlehead |
Like all Noodlehead patterns, this bag is hefty and sure to stand up well to lots of wear and tear. Sew yours in a neutral canvas for an accessory that mixes and matches easily. The Poolside Tote will be your go-to summer bag.
