Over the last few weeks Steve and I have been challenged to capacity. Our latest endeavor challenged my sewing abilities with silk chiffon and fly zippers. Our hands ached as I edited photos and he coded new page layouts late, late into the night. And the bags underneath my eyes grew darker as each night I got less and less sleep. But, damn, are we proud.
It’s February. Next month is officially spring, folks. Flowers are budding, trees are blooming. And what’s the state of your handmade wardrobe? We're willing to bet it’s still planted firmly in winter mode. The 2015 Indiesew Spring Collection
is here. Five sewing patterns, two options to bundle, and a brand new handmade wardrobe. Let’s take a look.
The Pattern Players
The Sailor Top
by Fancy Tiger is a woven raglan sleeve blouse with a feminine, gathered neckline. The a-line shape makes this top not only flattering, but also comfortable. I’ve sewn this Sailor Top in a floral silk chiffon underlined with rayon challis, which drapes beautifully. Pair your Sailor Top with a pair of ankle length skinny jeans for a cute spring outfit!
Named Clothing's Jamie Jeans
skinny jeans sewing pattern for every woman. They feature a mid-rise and slimming front seams and weren't as scary to sew as you might expect! Be sure to choose a denim with a little stretch (ours had 2% spandex) for Jamie Jeans that fit like a glove. Choose a contrasting fabric or piping for the pocket accent to personalize your pair.
by Christine Haynes is a knit dress with drop sleeves and a loose fit. This Marianne is sewn up in Art Gallery Fabrics Kilim Inherit Shadow
and Robert Kaufman Laguna Cotton Jersey
available at Imagine Gnats
. We love layering our Marianne under a structured leather jacket and neutral flats for cool spring nights.
Sew Much Ado’s Seafarer Top
is my go-to dolman sleeved top when I'm looking for a quick sewing project. It has a relaxed fit with drop shoulders. This pattern includes the option to add sleeve or waistbands. Our Seafarer Top is sewn up in a comfy jersey knit. Sew yours in a size larger than the pattern calls for to achieve the ultimate slouchy, tee look.
The Envelope Clutch
by Noodlehead is a simple clutch with a magnetic snap closure. We sewed up the size small and added a wrist strap for maximum functionality. Our Envelope Clutch is sewn using quality quilting cotton from P&B Textiles’ Color Weave Medley
collection. I used solid grey piping for a professional, clean finish.
Two Ways to Bundle
With this collection we’re excited to give you two ways to save! Maybe sewing a pair of jeans is not your jam. Or maybe you just love to sew knit tops and dresses. For the 2015 Spring Collection we’re offering TWO pattern bundles!
