Striped cotton fabrics scream nautical fashion to me. I see a striped chambray and I immediately want to drop everything and sew up an Archer Button Up. A yarn-dyed cotton ticking fabric is demanding to be made into a fit-and-flare like the Marbella.
Our newest and ninth fabric batch, Nantucket, is the epitome of that preppy East Coast attire. Luckily you can live in Boulder, Colorado, never set foot on a boat, and this attire is still entirely accessible.
This fabric batch features two substrates, each in two colorways, and is well suited for the beginner sewist. A sustainable, organic stripe is complemented by a lightweight Swiss dot that’s perfect for spring garments. Let’s get to the details:
Chambray Striped Swiss Dot - Fanfare
This 100% Cotton Striped Chambray in Fanfare fabric features a fun dobby design. Indigo blue stripes run across a natural colored background, while fuchsia, grass green and aqua dots create texture. This fabric is relatively sheer, so a lining will be necessary for dresses and skirts.
Chambray Striped Swiss Dot - Twig
A more subdued colorway, the Chambray Striped Swiss Dot in Twig is perfect for crisp blouses and button up shirts. Grey stripes are enhanced by orange, yellow, and green Swiss dots. This fabric is very stable and well suited for the beginner sewist.
Organic Yarn Dyed Cotton Ticking - Dark Blue
Our Organic Yarn Dyed Cotton Ticking in Dark Blue is the ideal fabric for dresses and skirts alike. This sustainable substrate features vertical white stripes against a navy blue background. Sew up the Glea Dress in this high-quality fabric.
Organic Yarn Dyed Cotton Ticking - Natural
This natural colorway of our Organic Yarn Dyed Cotton Ticking is a neutral stripe that mixes well with both prints and solids. Our French Dart Shift shown above is sewn in this fabric for a lovely, lightweight summer garment.
As always, there’s limited yardage of these four fabrics and they won’t last long! Head over to the Indiesew Fabric Shop and grab what you’ll need for your next sewing project.
Happy sewing!
