Introducing Fabric Batch #006: Lovebird

A new fabric batch is here! Today's love-themed collection has arrived just in time for Valentine's Day. This batch is aptly-named Lovebird and features lightweight shirting fabrics, a flowing rayon challis, and the softest French terry I've ever touched. A fun print and two dobby fabrics mix with neutral solids for a fabric batch that's fitting for year-round wear.

Plus, to make this fabric batch even sweeter, these new arrivals and all in-stock fabrics are 20% off! Use the coupon code LOVEBIRD20 at checkout to receive the discount! This sale ends at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9th. But first, let's take a look at the new arrivals.

Red and indigo Chambray Dobby

Red Chambray Shirting | Checked Dobby

Indigo Chambray Fabric | Checked Dobby

This dobby fabric might be the most unique I've ever seen. Featured in two color ways, red and indigo blue, this lightweight chambray fabric features red and navy blue checks that run parallel to the fabric selvage. One peek at the wrong side shows long threads running the length the fabric. This fabric is ideal for blouses like the Anna Blouse or Natalie Top.

Note: The blouse shown above will be in the Indiesew pattern shop soon!

Oatmeal French Terry

French terry is back by popular demand! This Oatmeal French Terry is incredibly soft and drapey, perfect for cozy handmade garments like the Lane Raglan or Bethioua. Featuring a heathered oatmeal appearance, this fabric is best suited for the intermediate sewist. Check out our French terry Fabric Files post to learn more about this substrate.

Strawberry Lovebirds Rayon

Rayon Challis Fabric | Strawberry Lovebirds

Our Strawberry Lovebirds Rayon is the perfect print for Valentine's Day! This soft, lightweight rayon challis works well for flowing tops like the Roscoe Blouse. Ivory kissing birds are set against a strawberry pink background in a small-scale repeating pattern. If you've never sewn with rayon challis, check out this primer.

Lightweight Denim Shirting

Indiesew Fabric | Lightweight Denim Shirting

This Lightweight Denim Shirting is perfect for button up shirts like the Archer. This fabric is drapey and pliable, weighing in at just 7 ounces per yard. The wrong side of this fabric features a lighter indigo color, which would be suitable used as the right side as well. This fabric is very stable and well suited for the beginner sewist.

Hop on over to the fabric shop to see them all and grab your yardage before it's gone!
