Indiesew Blog | How We Wear It: The Caroline Dress by Mouse House Creations

It's been a few weeks since I sewed up the Ladies' Caroline Dress by Mouse House Creations, and yet I cannot stop thinking about this dress. Maybe it's the shockingly bright red cotton, the sweet waist full of gathers, or those flattering princess seams. Regardless, this is one pattern that will be sewn again and again.

The Caroline Dress (or Peplum!) is fully lined with an invisible zipper. And what a difference those two features make! Hayley from Mouse House Creations does an excellent job taking the confusion out of both of these techniques. She even takes the guesswork out of sewing the dress lining to the invisible zipper so that no raw fabric edges show.

I've been itching to put my favorite, curly-haired friend, Denelle into my Caroline. And I'm so glad she was up for it. Because she totally owned this shoot.

A thin belt takes this dress up a notch. Pair it with nude wedges and a vintage clutch (the clutch above was my grandmother's) and this look transitions well for any formal event. I think this dress would be perfect wedding guest attire, but can also dressed down for a day at the farmer's market.

Because this dress is such a statement, it looks great with no accessories too. We love simplicity here at Indiesew, and this dress makes it easy to walk out the door with minimal effort.

And get this. The Caroline Dress (or Peplum) pattern offers five sleeve options, four skirt length options, and the option to gather or pleat your skirt. That's forty (yes, 40!) different ways you can make the pattern!
