Indiesew Handmade Holiday | The Envelope Clutch Sewing Pattern by Noodlehead

We’re just a mere ten days away from Christmas, and if you haven’t started sewing your handmade gifts ( me), fret not! There’s still ample time to make something totally impressive for your favorite people. Today is a special Handmade Holiday giveaway, because the pattern we’re featuring and its designer are brand new to the Indiesew shop! Yessiree, Noodlehead’s awesome accessories patterns will be filling the shop soon!

Today we’re talking about the modern and functional Envelope Clutch. This basic accessory has a fold over flap with magnetic snap closure and is packed with options. Choose from two different sizes (the small size is photographed here) and two different inner pocket options. Add piping for a totally finished look.

So let’s get to the good part: this fabric. This print is a Pendelton Wool purchased from the Woolen Mills in Portland several years ago. It is just as divine as it looks in these photos. So divine in fact that it's almost, just almost, too good to use. It was gifted to me by a dear friend, and half of the yardage was initially made into this pillow.

To be honest I’ve been terrified to cut into the small amount that was left of this fabric gold. But as I prepared to sew the Envelope Clutch sample, I immediately knew the wool had a new-found purpose. For the lining and piping, I used this double-cloth from Imagine Gnats and the contrast works perfectly with such a bright print. I am totally smitten with the result.

The Envelope Clutch sewing pattern is great for beginners because of its straight lines and limited yardage required (just one yard for the small size!). If you’re an adventurous beginner, try your hand at making and using piping on this pattern.

This pattern is perfect for handmade gifts and assembly line style sewing. You'll find that once your pattern pieces are cut out, the pattern assembles pretty quickly. What's even better? You can likely use what you already have in your fabric stash for this small project.
